Bob Down - a song from Takayna
Lyrics Trace Balla
Music Andrew McSweeney
Deep down in the forest
a little frog hopped
Amongst the ferns and fungi,
but suddenly she stopped
In front of her were cut down trees
and not a bird in sight
Gone were all the mosses
and the lichen that she liked
Frog frowned
Frog frowned
mmmm - Frog Frowned
The frog jumped out to take a look
at all the chopped down trees
The water had a toxic taste,
there was a man down on his knees
He said “it’s cooler in the forest,
its boiling in the coupe
Come on lets get a hop along,
Don’t want no frog soup”.
They bobbed down
On the ground
Mmmm- Bobbed down
Beneath the ferns and tall trees,
under watch of a masked owl
The frog let out a sob,
the man let out a howl
Frog could see he was a friend
and others like him too
“I'm here to save the tall trees
and the tiny mosses too”
They bobbed down
On the ground
mmmm Bobbed down
(Bridge)
he said “Some folks lost there way
so lets give them a peek
To fall in love with a forest (pause)
takes less than a week”.
The man said to the frog,
“by the way my name is Brown”
Like the trunks of the tall trees
and the soil in the ground
I’m Bob Brown
Bob Brown
mmm Bob Brown
The frog looked at him sideways,
Thought “That’s’ not what I’ve seen,
You’re a fine friend to the forest,
more a deep dark shade of green”
Deep inside the forest
the birds sang out their song
And amongst the moss and lichen
frog and Bob they hopped along
They bobbed down
on the ground
mmmm
bobbed down repeat
